Normandy MCCKaka and i arrived early (as usual) 0700hrs the same time as Nik Everitt from Normandy MCC, and had quite a chat before the masses arrived, although not a full entry the riders list had some quality riders entered, still a bit puzzled at why not a full event as Normandy do put on a good event and promised some totally different this time at Bagshot and there was nothing else on in the south..... nothing as queer as folk my Dad would say lol.

Had good chat with Dan Groom/Manny and Simon Beken, Dan and Pete Lawry, Mark and George Hayes, Judsy, Zade, and Ben from LFB, Dan Brundell, Timothy Tubb, Helen Spiers, Martin Biles, Paul West, Rob Mussell, Aaron and Tristian, Ben blah blah and of course my good friend and sparring partner Chris Stainger.

Signing on/scrutineering was ready very early on and had no problems.

Well i got off to a corker of a start and was in top 3 until we did follow the leader into a dead end, we had all gone the wrong bloody way. Not sure who the other riders were but there was about 6-8 of us and i know Zade was one of them, so by the time we got back on track we were all last,,,serves us right i suppose for not paying attention. Anyway from then onwards i made some awesome progress and rode probably the best i have done yet, was overtaking riders at a very high speed of knots, my confidence was flying and had some good battles with riders 39 and 40 swapping places many times.

After the hour mark, i seemed to be on my own for a few laps and still going well and had not fallen off yet....yet! lol. I had forgotten about refuelling as was in such a rhythm and noticed i had lapped many other sportsman riders twice, so i knew i was doing well. Then about 1hr 50 mins in i thought it was time to refuel, only put 3 litres in and off i went. Again got into a rhythm until my good friend Chris Stainger (Vet A) came up behind me and i was fully aware so i tried to impress him and upped my game only to crash, which was more frustrating than anything else.

Chris helped me get back on and away we set off again, as he had already binned it big time on lap 1 and had bike problem due to the crash and was just having a jolly, so he kept letting me pass and was riding shotgun for me. It was working out well as i really was upping my game and felt good being pushed..... until i lost the front on a fast left-hander, which knocked the wind out of my sails, big time, bent my thumb right back which i thought i had broken and i had a dead leg from hell and a dazed feeling for a while. I was not sure whether to carry on but i tried, as there was not long to go. Plodded on but my Mojo had totally gone and was all over the show and fell off so many times i lost count and was being overtaken by riders i had previously lapped but i dug in and soldiered on to the finish.

I felt very jaded, battered and was not smiling until i got to the van where my Kaka was stood there with my usual after race mug of tea at the ready, her infectious enthusiasm for me finishing put the grin back on my face, was also good to get some feedback from some of the top riders telling me how hard i was to pass and how much my riding has improved, so i am a very happy chappy completing 12 laps in total.

I thought the course was quite technical and tiring but nether less enjoyed and thank you Richard/Rob/Nik and the rest of Normandy MCC on putting on such a good well run event.
